Postby sanju123 » Fri Jan 09, 2009 7:30 pm

This is what our parents taught us from the very beginning, but in the present scenario things are very tempting and luring in private sector. Well it is quite confusing :? :? . I would like to have opinions of more people on this so please do share you point of view.

well this has no definite answer it really depends on your attitude and what you really want from a job. Do you want to money and fast cars. If you want to earn lots of money you gotta work hard and private sector gives you opportunity to do that ,lets you work and rewards you based on performance.

Government sector is like ambassador car, you can abuse it, ride it over rough terrain and dont care about it, but life still rolls on. Its not glamorous and it definitely does not take you from 0-60 in 5 seconds flat, it takes its time giving you the result. It may give you the result you needed at the end the very end. if you are prepared to wait that long. But you can sit back and enjoy the ride, you can lookout the window and take a break once in a while. Really appreciate the way you travel trough life. everything around you is not a blur.

You got to office in time and leave it in time, have holidays to spend with your family and it is safe as anything around. Losing your job is next impossible

things are quite different "theindianbee". have you missed to think about the Right of Information Act. people are more aware nowadays, and the life of most government servants are not like enjoying the dark and deep woods through the Ambassador car window. as the offices get computerized and air-conditioned, those people will work/if not forced to work by the taxpayers. though innovative mind and enthusiasm of an individual will find difficult times with the gov sector, those hurdles could be readily compromised by an ordinary middle class worker for the job security it provides, as his sole aim after 30 years of age would be to secure the lives of his wife and children.

Selve, I use the ambassador car mataphor just to highlight the pace of income not work. You get a fat pay check in a private sector but that is not the case in Govt jobs. You need to cross 50 for your salary to get close to the salary a fresher in IT gets.

Govt Jobs also have accountability but they are not threatened of losing their jobs. They get memos and warnings before getting booted and that occurs very very rarely. i haven't seen a govt officer who was fired for lack of performance. May be for cheating but never for lack of performance
